The gallery is empty. The lights are low. One canvas on every wall, and on the back of every canvas a date written in pencil. Walk.

“People pose. Animals do not. I paint the ones who do not.”
Even the gallery does not know her name. The contracts carry three letters in place of a signature; payments pass through a notary. All that is known is that the canvases are finished at night, and that each one carries a date written in pencil on the back.

- A stone house above the Aegean. The village is unknown.

- Acrylic, palette knife. No brush for eleven years.

- 2015, a horse. Never sold; burned.
